  4. Click on “Next”
  5. You will have to choose how you will verify your identity with. Choose the app from the drop-down and Install the appropriate app authenticator to your iPhone/iPad, Windows Phone, Android or others.
  6. Once you are done with the app installer then press the Next button. You must log in to the app in your Smartphone.
  7. Tap the scan QR code to pair the Smartphone.
  8. Provide the code generated on the Smartphone and click “Next”
  9. You must keep a print of the recovery code if you are supposed to regain the access to your account. Click “Next”
  10. Press the next button again to finish it.

 

Follow the steps below to activate Two-Step Verification using phone number:

  1. Visit https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign-in.
  2. Click on “More Security options”
  3. Under the Two Step Verification, click on “Set up two-step verification”
  4. Click on “Next”
  5. Choose the phone number from the drop down list and enter the active mobile number.
  6. Select the verification method as “Text” or Call.
  7. Provide the code sent to your Smartphone then press next.
  8. Press the next button again.
  9. Click on “Finish” to complete.

                         

Follow the steps below to activate Two-Step Verification using Email:

  1. Visit https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign-in.
  2. Click on “More Security options”
  3. Under the Two Step Verification, click on “Set up two-step verification”
  4. Click on “Next”
  5. From the drop-down list, choose an alternate email as “Verify my identity with”
  6. Provide the alternate email and press the next button.
  7. Type the code sent to your alternate email address then press next.
  8. Press the next button again.
  9. Click finish to complete.

On the other hand, you can also generate app password to verify the identity but remember by doing so, Outlook desktop app, Xbox 360, office 2010 or 2011 for Mac, Windows Essentials apps will stop working immediately. You will have to create each password for each app.
